Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is calling for expressions of interest from female athletes within the States / Territories who are interested in making themselves available for selection into the Australian
Womens Team to compete at the 2017 World University Games.
Australian University Sport (AUS) made it a stipulation for the 2017 World University Games, that all National Sporting Organisations (NSO’s) must nominate athletes who are National Squad Members
and appear on the Australia’s Winning Edge (AWE) categorisation list within the sport. For this reason, TTA initially sent out a memo and expression of interest to our National Squad Members. At the closure
date TTA had received EOI’s from 4 x male National Squad Members and 2 x female National Squad Members. There is a minimum of three and a maximum of four athletes that can be nominated to AUS
for team selection. Therefore, TTA will be able to nominate a team of four male athletes but won’t have enough female National Squad Members to make up a team. After consulting with AUS they have
agreed to relax their criteria and allow TTA to nominate athletes outside the National Squad to ensure that we are able to also nominate a womens team. For this reason, TTA is seeking an additional two
female athletes from within the States / Territories to make up a team of 4.
