Big News for Table Tennis in Australia - Nat Membership Model

Published Fri 28 Nov 2025

Table Tennis Australia (TTA) has just unveiled an updated national membership model — the most significant change to our membership structure in over a decade!

If you are currently registered with Table Tennis SA (TTSA), and have an email address recorded, you will have received an email providing all the details of the changes.

Launching 1 January 2026, this new model is designed to modernise our sport, boost participation, and create even more ways for people to connect with table tennis across the country. 🏓🇦🇺

TTA are introducing five nationally aligned membership categories, making the member experience more consistent and connected across every State and Territory:

🏓Fun & Fan – FREE entry-level membership

🏓Non-Playing – For umpires, referees, coaches & administrators

🏓Club Play – Social & recreational play

🏓Club Comp – Structured State-level competitors + all Veteran players

🏓Comp Plus – National-level competitors with added performance support

This new model also allows TTA to better engage Australia’s 3.25 million table tennis fans, over half of whom are under 34, opening the door to a new generation of players and supporters.

Over the past two years, Table Tennis Australia (TTA) has been working closely with State and Territory Associations to modernise the membership model. The aim has been to better support current members and improve retention, while creating more ways for people to connect with table tennis.

There have been no significant fee increases in the past five years, despite rising operational costs such as insurance, event delivery, and broader business expenses. The new structure also realigns services and benefits to fees, members receive greater value and more benefits as they pay more, while lower-cost options remain accessible to all.

The new model helps us reach more people, improve the experience for current members, and support a stronger long-term future for the sport.
