TTSA Tournament Structure Changes
Change Rationale
Over 30 and Over 40 events to be removed from the Veterans Tournaments and included in the Senior and Youth  Tournaments
  • Veteran tournaments are becoming  too large to be held on one day with the events consistently going over time and impacting on player enjoyment and the efficiency of the tournament.
  • O/30 and O/40 players will be eligible to compete in the Open events thereby increasing participation as well as the strength of the events

Tournaments will be separated into 2 sessions.
Session 1  9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Session 2  12:30 pm - 5:00 pm.
  • Veterans tournaments - O/50 and O/60 Session 1
    All other events session 2.
  • Juniors - U/11 - U/15 Session 1.
    All other events Session 2
  • Seniors (Incl O/30 and O/40s ) commence from 9:30 am

All doubles to be played at the commencement of the sessions Ensures all players are present - losing doubles players may then commence singles where possible.

Players that are 15 minutes late for the scheduled start time to be walked over (forfeited) - no exceptions Players that are constantly late impact on the efficiency of tournaments - This is currently in the Tournament conditions, however, has not always been followed through - this provides players with advanced notice of the action that will be taken by the referee

Tournament deadlines for entering events will be followed i.e no late entries will be accepted. Provides players with advance notice. Quicker turnaround for selectors to provide seedings to tournament organisers.

All singles events where ther are >= 4 players will be round robin events Provides additional matches for players

No 1 & 2 seeds go straight through to the main draw where numbers exceed >= 5 players Provides fairness for players and opportunities to progress and achieve ratings points

No Ratings Central events to be included in tournaments with the exception of juniors with a review of the points levels by TTSA Encourage more participation for the younger ages as the ability spread is quite significant

Maximum of 5 events may be entered per each person

Match boards (Table Boards) to be used for all tournaments Update to the Covid guidance to include other changes such as the usage of table boards
